Will an endometriosis meme solve all of your problems? Some would say yes, and they would be right. So often, we deal with serious stuff here at A Pain in the Endo, discussing how to heal naturally and how to help your body fight this horrific condition on a budget and on your time. If you’re here, you’ve probably dealt with your share of the endo flare-up and deal with that annoying bloat some call “endo belly.” But sometimes you need a laugh and to realize you aren’t alone in this crazy mind-bending condition that can leave you feeling helpless and discouraged.
Let’s talk about endometriosis and chronic, devastating pain.
What is Endometriosis?
What is endometriosis? Human endometrial cells by overexpression you say? Eutopic endometrium? Basically, endometriosis is when cells go crazy and grow outside of the uterus on the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes or elsewhere. Many with the condition also have family members with it, so, there’s a genetic component, but it also seems to arise with immune and thyroid dysfunction, gut imbalances and nutritional deficiencies.
Roughly 1 in 10 women in the US have this condition with other countries reporting similar rates.
Many women try for years to get a diagnosis explaining their symptoms. Laparoscopy is the only official way Western medicine has to diagnose this condition.
It’s a problem for enough people to have a month dedicated to its awareness. March is Endometriosis Awareness Month.
